Refunds

Refund Policy

ThreadSpot charges $3 for a one-off run and offers optional monthly plans. This page says when you get your money back, when you get a free re-run instead, and when you get neither. Read the first section if you only have a minute.

This document is a careful draft, not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have one read it before you rely on it. Items in square brackets still need to be filled in.

The short version

Here is the whole policy in six lines. Everything below is the detail behind them.

  • If a run fails technically and gives you nothing usable, you get a full refund or a free re-run. Your choice.
  • If a run completes but finds zero threads, you get a full refund or a free re-run. Your choice.
  • If a run finds threads and you do not like them, that is not refundable. The compute was spent doing the work you asked for.
  • Email billing@threadspot.in to ask. We aim to reply within 1 working day and to decide within 3 working days.
  • Cancelling a monthly plan stops the next charge. It does not refund the month you are currently in, apart from the narrow cases set out below.
  • We do not pro-rate a part-used month, with two narrow exceptions set out below.

What your $3 actually buys

A one-off run is a single piece of work on one website. ThreadSpot reads the site, searches publicly visible threads on Reddit, Quora and LinkedIn that the brand could reply to, scores each thread, and writes a draft reply for each one. That work costs us real money in search calls and model calls the moment it starts.

So the thing you are buying is the run, not a guaranteed number of threads and not a guaranteed outcome after you post. The one exception is a run that comes back with nothing at all, and that is covered further down. ThreadSpot does not post anything anywhere and has no write access to Reddit, Quora or LinkedIn. You post from your own account, or you do not. What happens after that is outside what we can promise or refund.

We also do not promise a search ranking outcome. Presence, not placement. If you bought a run expecting a ranking result, that expectation is not something this policy can make good.

If a run fails technically

A run counts as a technical failure if any of these are true.

In every one of these cases you get a full $3 refund or a free re-run, whichever you prefer. Tell us which when you write in. If you do not say, we issue the refund.

If the failed run was part of a monthly plan rather than a one-off purchase, there is no separate $3 to give back. In that case we re-run it and the failed run does not count against your allowance for that month.

  • It errored out and never produced results.
  • It produced results that are broken or empty in an obvious way, for example threads with no links or drafts that did not generate.
  • It never finished within [EXPECTED RUN COMPLETION TIME] and is still stuck when you contact us.
  • We charged you and no run started at all.
  • It ran against the wrong website because of a fault on our side, not a typo in the URL you entered.

If a run returns zero threads

Sometimes the run works perfectly and there is simply nothing out there. A niche product, a quiet week, communities that were not discussing the problem at all.

If a run returns zero threads, you get a full refund or a free re-run. Your choice, same as a technical failure. We would rather hand the $3 back than keep money for an empty page. On a monthly plan the same rule applies as for a technical failure: we re-run it and it does not count against your allowance.

If a run returns fewer than [LOW THREAD THRESHOLD] threads, we will not refund it automatically, but write in anyway. If we look at the run and think the search was set up badly at our end, we will give you a free re-run with better settings.

If a run returns threads you did not like

This is the honest part. If a run finds threads, scores them and drafts replies, and you read the results and decide they are not worth acting on, we do not refund it.

The reason is simple and it is not a technicality. The $3 pays for compute that has already been spent. The searches ran, the scoring ran, the drafts were written. We cannot get that back, and $3 does not leave room to absorb it.

Things that are not grounds for a refund on their own:

If you think the relevance scoring is genuinely wrong rather than just disappointing, tell us which threads and why. We will not refund the run, but we do read these and it is how the scoring gets better.

  • The threads are real but too old, too small or too far from your market for your taste.
  • You disagree with the relevance scores.
  • You did not like the wording of the draft replies. They are drafts and you are meant to edit them.
  • You posted a reply and it did not perform, or it was removed by a moderator.
  • You changed your mind after seeing the results.

Duplicate and accidental charges

If you were charged twice for the same run, or charged for a run you did not start, that is a full refund and we do not ask questions beyond confirming the charge.

If you bought several runs by accident in one session, tell us within 7 days and we will refund the ones that never started. Runs that already completed are treated like any other completed run under the rules above.

How to ask for a refund

Email billing@threadspot.in. There is no form and no ticket queue to fight.

Include these so we can find the run without a back and forth:

What happens next, with real timings:

  • The email address you paid with.
  • The website you ran ThreadSpot on.
  • Roughly when you started the run, date and approximate time.
  • Whether you want a refund or a free re-run.
  • We aim to acknowledge your email within 1 working day.
  • We aim to decide within 3 working days of your first email. Usually it is the same day.
  • If we approve it, we aim to submit the refund to [PAYMENT PROCESSOR NAME] within 2 working days of the decision.
  • Your bank or card issuer then takes its own time, typically 5 to 10 working days. That part is out of our hands.
  • If we say no, we say why in plain words and point at the specific part of this page.
  • A working day means a normal business day in [SUPPORT TIME ZONE], excluding weekends and public holidays there.

Free re-runs

A free re-run is a full run at no charge, on the same website or a different one, with settings you can change.

A re-run credit is valid for 30 days from the day we issue it and cannot be transferred to another account. If you asked for a re-run instead of a refund and you change your mind before you use it, email billing@threadspot.in and we will pay the refund instead.

If the free re-run also fails technically or also returns zero threads, you get the original $3 back in cash. We will not keep sending you back for another try.

Monthly plans: cancelling

The monthly plans are $39, $159 and $459. You can cancel at any time by emailing billing@threadspot.in. We confirm cancellations by email.

Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not refund the month you are already in, apart from the narrow late cancellation case in the next paragraph and the two exceptions in the pro-rata section below.

So if you are billed on the 8th and you cancel on the 20th, you are not charged again on the 8th of next month, and you keep full access and your remaining run allowance until the 8th. Nothing is cut off the moment you ask to cancel.

Send your cancellation email at least 24 hours before your renewal date. If your email arrives inside that 24 hour window and the charge has already gone through, tell us and we will refund that charge in full provided you have not used any runs in the new billing period.

Pro-rata and part-used months

As a rule we do not pro-rate. A month you have started is a month you have paid for, because the plan reserves scheduled runs and search capacity for your site for that period.

There are two exceptions and we apply them without arguing.

Outside those two cases, and outside the late cancellation case above, unused runs at the end of a month expire and are not refunded or rolled over.

  • New plan, unused, within 48 hours. If you subscribe for the first time and no run has executed on the plan, tell us within 48 hours of the charge and we refund it in full.
  • Extended outage. If ThreadSpot is unavailable or unable to complete your scheduled runs for more than 72 consecutive hours inside a billing month, we refund that month pro-rata for the days affected, or extend your plan by the same number of days. You pick.

Changing plans mid-month

Upgrading takes effect at your next renewal date unless we agree otherwise, and you keep your current allowance until then. If you need the bigger allowance sooner, email billing@threadspot.in and we will sort it out with you directly.

Downgrading also takes effect at your next renewal date, not immediately. You keep the higher plan and its allowance until then, and there is no partial refund for the difference.

Moving from a monthly plan back to one-off $3 runs is just a cancellation. The rules in the cancelling section apply.

Failed payments

If a monthly charge fails, we retry over the following 7 days and email you. If it still fails after that, the plan pauses and scheduled runs stop.

A paused plan is not a charge, so there is nothing to refund. You can restart it any time and billing starts fresh from that day.

We do not intend to charge a card after you have cancelled. If you think we have, email billing@threadspot.in. Once we have confirmed the cancellation in our records, we refund every charge dated after it, in full.

Chargebacks

Please email us before raising a chargeback with your bank. Most cases covered by this page we can settle in a few days, and a chargeback takes weeks and costs us a fee on top of the disputed amount.

If you do raise one, we will respond to your bank with the run records. We may also suspend the account while the dispute is open, because we cannot keep running paid work on a payment method that is being disputed.

Tax and currency

Prices are in US dollars. When we refund, we refund the amount charged in that currency.

If your bank converted the charge into another currency, the amount that lands back in your account can differ slightly because exchange rates moved between the charge and the refund. That difference is your bank's, not ours, and we cannot top it up.

Where tax was added to your charge, the refund includes that tax. Tax treatment depends on where you are and is handled as [TAX HANDLING NOTE].

Your legal rights

This page is not meant to take away any right you have under the consumer law that applies to you. Where that law gives you a stronger right to a refund than this policy does, that law applies and we will honour it.

This policy is offered by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], and is governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION].

Changes to this policy

If we change these terms, the version that applies to your purchase is the one published on the day you paid.

We will not apply a stricter rule retroactively to a run or a subscription month you have already paid for. For material changes we email anyone with an active plan at least 14 days before they take effect.

Still not sure

Email billing@threadspot.in and describe what happened. If your case is not clearly covered by this page, say so and we will make a call and explain it. We would rather refund a borderline $3 than have you feel cheated by a product you tried once.

Still to confirm before this is final

Anything in square brackets above is a real detail that has not been filled in yet. This list is published deliberately so nobody mistakes the document for finished.

  • [EXPECTED RUN COMPLETION TIME]: the real maximum time a normal run takes before it counts as stuck, for example 30 minutes. Confirm against production run times.
  • [LOW THREAD THRESHOLD]: the thread count below which you will offer a discretionary free re-run, for example 3. A product decision, not a legal one.
  • [PAYMENT PROCESSOR NAME]: the actual payment processor that issues refunds. Do not publish until confirmed.
  • [SUPPORT TIME ZONE]: the time zone and country whose public holidays define a working day for the response windows on this page.
  • [TAX HANDLING NOTE]: how tax such as GST or VAT is applied and refunded, based on where the business is registered. Confirm with an accountant.
  • [LEGAL ENTITY NAME]: the registered company or sole proprietor name that takes the payment.
  • [REGISTERED ADDRESS]: the registered business address.
  • [GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION]: the governing law and courts for disputes.
  • [CONFIRM WHETHER THE BILLING SYSTEM PRORATES UPGRADES BEFORE PUBLISHING THIS SECTION]: the upgrade paragraph is written for the safe case, upgrade at next renewal. Only switch it back to immediate upgrade with a prorated difference once proration is configured and tested end to end.
  • Confirm the monthly plan remedy for a failed or zero-thread run: the page now says the run is repeated and does not count against that month's allowance. Check the billing and scheduling system can actually credit a run back before publishing.
  • Last updated date: set the publication date on the page and update it whenever the terms change.
  • Cancellation wording is email only on purpose, because no billing or account settings screen exists in the product yet. The Terms and the Contact page must carry the identical sentence, and all three switch together on the day self service cancellation ships.
  • Response windows are written as aims, not guarantees: aim to reply in 1 working day, aim to decide in 3, aim to submit the approved refund in 2. The Contact page must use the same wording for the same inbox. Check these are windows you can actually hit before publishing.
  • Verify the 48 hour new subscription refund window and the 72 hour outage threshold match what you are willing to honour.
  • Confirm failed payment retries actually run over 7 days before the plan pauses.
  • Confirm the 14 day notice period for material changes is one you can operate, since it commits you to an email list of active plan holders.
  • Have a lawyer check the consumer rights and governing law sections before publishing.
